More Than a Wee Bit of Fun Had at St. Patrick’s Day Dinner

On Saturday, February 23rd Good Shepherd celebrated St. Patrick’s Day early by hosting its 9th annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner in the newly renovated Parish Hall. The event, attended by approximately 100 parishioners and their families, was once again a huge success filled with great food, entertainment, prizes, and plenty of laughs.

The Hall was decked out with all things Irish, from the orange, green, and white balloons, to the street signs pointing to such towns as Limerick, Cork, and Dublin, to the gold coins at the end of the green tables, and of course the aroma of corned beef and cabbage. Turnips, potatoes, chicken, and rolls also filled the chaffing dishes, and there were plenty of sweets to go around, including a birthday cake for none other than Father Larry. Attendees were even entertained by song and dance from a group of Irish step dancers.

But you didn’t have to be Irish to have luck on your side that night, as approximately 15 raffle prizes were awarded, including the lucky recipient of a 50/50 raffle.

The event, which raised nearly $900 for the parish, was a great opportunity for parishioners to have fun, socialize, and forge new friendships and acquaintances.  But it would not have been possible were it not for the support of its organizers, Don Bruneau, Mary Archambault, and Bernie Guertin, as well as all of the other volunteers that helped with such areas as cooking, serving, decorating, selling tickets, and securing prizes. Exciting things happen when people work together, and there was plenty of excitement to go around.
