July 27-28: New Day Outreach and Food Pantry Weekend

Next weekend is Food Pantry Weekend. Donations this month will go to the People First Food Pantry in Uxbridge.

Next weekend is our New Day Outreach Weekend. Dorothy Day (Nov. 8, 1897-Nov. 29, 1980) was an American journalist turned social activist who ultimately became a devout Catholic. She became known for her social justice campaigns in defense of the poor, forsaken, hungry, and homeless. In 1933 she founded the Catholic Worker Movement with Peter Maurin. Together they championed the cause for nonviolence and hospitality for the impoverished and downtrodden.

It was in this spirit that the “New Day” Ministry Account was established here at Good Shepherd several years ago. Monies received in the Good Shepherd Church replica on the last weekend of each month are used to help individuals and families from our parish, and also to support various community causes. Your generosity each month enables us to continue to help those in need.
