Tis the Season to be Singing

It is time for the Festival Choir for Christmas. If you don’t have the time to commit to choir on a weekly basis and love to sing, come and praise the Lord for Christmas.

Any adults who would like to sing at the 10 PM Christmas Eve mass, please come to rehearsals on 11/30, 12/7, 12/13 and 12/21 from 5-6:30 PM in the Music Office in the Parish Center.

Any younger or young-at-heart people who would like to sing for the Children’s Christmas Eve Mass at 4 on Christmas Eve, please come to a rehearsal on December 20 from 6:30-8:00 in the Church.

Religious Education Gathering Gift Bags for Shut-In Parishioners

This year, the Religious Education children will again be filling gift bags to be brought to our shut-in parishioners. Donations of travel size soaps, lotions, shampoo etc. would be greatly appreciated. Things like postage stamps, Christmas cards, writing paper, or anything else you can think of that our elder parishioners may like are great. Small gift bags and tissue paper are always needed! Please, no glass ornaments. Let’s get together to make a wonderful Christmas for our stay-at-home brothers and sisters in Christ.

Good Shepherd Youth Ministry Raising Funds and Hope through Summer Mission Programs

Hope. That’s what members of Good Shepherd Youth Ministry are looking to provide next summer through a pair of service weeks to Camp Sunshine in Casco, ME and Blessings of Hope in Ephrata, PA.

Camp Sunshine provides respite, support, joy, and hope to children with life threatening illnesses and their immediate families. Youth 16 or older will be visiting camp this summer to offer their support and compassion.

Blessings of Hope is a food distribution network that packages, distributes, and shares food with food banks, ministries, churches, and individuals committed to building relationships in their communities through food and acts of love. Youth between the ages of 11 and 18 will be supporting Blessings of Hope the week of August 3rd-10th.

Beginning this fall and extending into next summer Youth Ministry members looking to participate in these missions are taking part in a series of fund raisers to help defer the cost. On September 28th they raised over $270 through a Youth Ministry Car Wash. Pictures from the car wash can be found below.

They raised additional funds through a Game-a-thon on October 19th, and by sponsoring games and tables at the recent Holiday Fair. Upcoming fund raisers include a bake sale, and the sale of luminaires for the Christmas Eve Vigil to honor loved ones. Additional activities are planned for 2014.

Please support Youth Ministry in whatever ways you can, whether through sponsorship, prayer, donation of items, or participation in their fund raisers. Your support will not only provide youth throughout the parish with a memorable and life changing experience, but will also reach children and families throughout the country through the loving and compassionate hands of Good Shepherd’s Youth Ministry.
